Peter will also be attending Bouchercon http://www.charmedtodeath.com/ ,
signing his new book FRIEND OF THE DEVIL and talking about his next book ALL THE COLORS OF DARKNESS to be released in the US February 2009. Peter says in the podcast this next Banks novel is even darker than FRIEND.

Activities in Oxford

I promised in my monthly newsletter that I would have a great picture of Oxford to entice you you come to three upcoming Oxford Events. This was taken from the dock behind our store during last year's Oxford regatta by author Donna Andrews.
Saturday, August 9 is The Oxford Regatta and Artists in the Park. The artists will be selling art to benefit the Oxford Heritage efforts for our 340th anniversary from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. The regatta, of course will be on the Tred Avon behind our Oxford store. We will be assisting the authors by selling Oxford T-shirts to benefit the cause.
Saturday August 16 Mystery Loves Company hosts author Ellen Crosby as she signs her third Virginia wine mystery THE BORDEAUX BETRAYAL from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Ellen will have Virginia wine to share.
Saturday, September 21 is the Oxford Ice Cream Social in Town Park overlooking the Tred Avon.
More information can be found on http://www.mysterylovescompany.com/ .
Hope to see you there.

ANN CLEEVES SIGNING

Although we are busy preparing to be dealers at Bouchercon in October, we couldn't turn down a chance to meet and co-sponsor a signing with Ann Cleeves, British crime author and winner of last year's most prestigious award The Duncan Lawrie Dagger Award for her mystery RAVEN BLACK.
On Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm, at the Pratt Library, 400 Cathedral St. Baltimore MD, Ann signs her newest Shetland mystery WHITE NIGHTS featuring Detective Jimmy Perez. "Raven" was about darkness and winter, and the Viking festival on the islands. "White" is about light and the long summer days that turn into white nights when the sun never sets. In this one Jimmy and his artist friend investigate the strange occurrences at a gallery opening. They go back to the past of the gallery owner and her folk music legend son. If you don't schedule a trip to the Shetlands after reading Ann's books, you are immune to atmosphere in a crime novel.
Please email us at mysterylovescompany at gmail dot com to order a copy of WHITE NIGHTS signed or personalized.
We're just thrilled she's coming to Baltimore.

MARCIA TALLEY'S DEAD MAN DANCING

Marcia Talley informs us that her newest Hannah Ives mystery Dead Man Dancing will published in the fall 2008 from Severn House in hardback. You can, of course, pre-order the book from us and have it signed and personalized. Just email us at mysterylovescompany at gmail.com
Here's what Marcia has to say about Dead Man Dancing:
"Hannah Ives knows what it means to be a survivor, but will ballroom dancing be the death of her?
Driving a wedge between Ruth and her fiancĂ©, Hutch, is not what Hannah intends when she recommends J & K Dance Studios to her sister. Ruth is determined to shine on her wedding day, but when Kay Giannotti, the svelte, stunning half of J & K, floats across the floor to greet Hutch with a kiss, it’s clear this isn’t the first time they’ve met. Setting jealously aside, Ruth dazzles the instructors with her footwork, and Jay Giannotti charms the couple into auditioning for Shall We Dance?, a TV talent show. Then Ruth is sidelined by a brutal attack, and Hutch is partnered with Melanie, whose deafness is no bar to success.
The couple is waltzing to a win, until a ruthless killer turns the competition into a blood sport. Hannah steps in, and the dancing gets down and dirty. Jealous partners, pushy mothers, brats in rhinestones, hired thugs … will Hannah discover who is capable of murder before the final tango?"
Thanks Marcia. We can't wait to read the book.
That's all for now.
Happy summer reading from Kathy at Mystery Loves Company
